You see, when you’re still attached to the past, it can show itself in your present as a block, something that doesn’t work, perhaps a negative behaviour, or a bad habit.
If you’re a parent, you may get angry time to time as your children, subconsciously, reminds you of a ‘broken piece’ in your life. You may struggle to positively influence your children because you have negativity inside you. You may feel overwhelmed and feel that you cannot do it anymore. You may lack energy mentally as well as physically. Or you may feel that your true self isn’t there anymore. It’s gone and you don’t know how to get it back.
If you have a partner, you may argue more than you wish to, as those negative emotions do surface without notice. You may feel lonely at times or perhaps experiencing sadness more often than happiness.
If you’re single looking for love, you may find it difficult to find the right person. When you meet someone new, it may feel like you build a wall around you just before it would get a bit serious. Almost like you’re sabotaging your relationship.
All of the above examples are blocks built from the past. Those negative emotions that are attached to the past, whatever it may be, stopping you to become the person you want to be. They wear you down, making you tired to try it one more time, to keep fighting for your happiness.
Thankfully, there’s a way forward. Letting go. All you have to do is to decide that you’ll do it. Once you’re ready to let go, you’re one step forward into your new freedom. This process includes forgiveness too. You have to forgive others as well as yourself.
